Navigate is a peer-focused student wellness program at Mount Allison University that helps students navigate mental heath and wellness resources at MtA. You may see us around campus at outreach booths; where we share information about resources on campus, in residence running a workshop/presentation or just heading to class! We also plan events for students during wellness week. Like you we are busy students learning how to set boundaries, prevent burnout and practice self-care. Our goal is to assist fellow students navigating health and wellness at Mount Allison! Join us, let's navigate together!
"Hi everyone! My name is René (he/him), and I am a fourth-year student pursuing an Honours in Economics. I am thrilled to be a part of the Navigate team this year because it allows me to illustrate the important mental health resources available at Mount Allison such as counselling sessions and spiritual care. My favourite self-care activities would be going on walks around town and going to the fitness centre on campus. I look forward to working with everyone this year and can’t wait for what’s to come!"
“Hi everyone! My name is Sarah (she/her), and I am going into my fourth year majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology. This is my second year on the Navigate team and I am so excited! My favourite self-care activities are exercising and spending time off electronics. Mount Allison has so many useful resources and one of my personal favourites is the Mindfulnest located on the 3rd floor of the student centre!”
"My name is Allaina (she/her), and I am a second-year student pursuing a double major in Psychology and Sociology. I am very passionate about mental health, so I am thrilled to be part of the Navigate Team this year. My goal is to help others while also using this experience as a learning opportunity for my future. "
Hi everybody! My name is Emily and my pronouns are she/her. I am from Truro, Nova Scotia, and I am doing a major in Psychology and a minor in Biology, with the intention of doing an Honours. This is my second year being a part of Navigate, and it has been so amazing! I am a big advocate for mental health and wellness, and being a member of this group has really allowed me to make sure that this passion of mine is being taken care of on campus. One of my favourite self-care activities is taking a long shower and cuddling up in bed to read a book.
“Hi everyone! My name is Nabiha, and I am going into my third year in Science Aviation. I am so excited to be a part of this lovely team! My favourite self-care activity would be listening to music and playing basketball. Mount Allison has so many useful resources and one of my favourites is the Mindfulnest located on the 3rd floor of the student centre! Be sure to check it out yourself and I look forward to saying hi to you all”
“Hey everyone! My name is Bentley Huffington (she/her), I am a fourth-year student pursuing dual bachelor’s degrees in science (biology major, psychology minor) and commerce. This will be my first year on the Navigate team, and I could not be more excited! I understand the complexities of mental health and really value the importance of learning how to best support others on their journey towards well-being. My favourite self-care practices are hanging out with my roommates, hitting the gym, and reading.”
“Hi everyone! My name is Aashana and I am heading into my third year, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Religious Studies. I am really excited to be a part of the Navigate team this year. Cooking has always been a passion of mine, but with school, I don’t often have the time to make elaborate dishes. Whenever I do get a moment, I like experimenting and creating something new and delicious. I also enjoy other self-care activities like taking a walk around town and drawing myself a nice, bubbly bath while watching Modern Family. One of my favourite spots to unwind is Silver Lake, I love sitting by the water, it is incredibly peaceful. Our campus offers a wide range of resources to support us all in tough times, which as university students we often encounter. I highly recommend the drop-in counselling sessions; they have been a great help to me and could be beneficial for you too. I believe it is important that we engage in regular wellness check-ins and the Navigate outreach booths are a good resource for that so whenever you see one be sure to stop by.”
